Values in Action
Service Learning
All eighth grade students spend a week during the school year volunteering at community organizations. During Service Learning Week in January, eighth graders have many options to choose from, including working at a food bank, an elderly care facility, or even a community child care center. Students not only learn the value of volunteering but how their actions can make a concrete difference in people’s lives.

Once the olives were pressed and bottled (their olive harvest yielded 60 bottles of oil), the fourth graders designed the artwork for the labels – a bird carrying an olive branch in its beak. The fourth graders sold the bottles of olive oil and decided to donate the money they raised to the Coastal Health Alliance, an organization that provides affordable healthcare to farm workers and their families.
