Technology in Lower School

Kindergarten through second grade students are exposed to a variety of different software tools and websites, and work on individual and group projects which most often connect directly to the themes and skills they are working on in Language Arts, Social Studies, Math and Science.

Lower School students visit the Mac Lab with their classroom teachers for one class period each week. First graders have additional weekly lab time as an extension of their Math Mania activities.

The Lower School classroom teachers collaborate closely with the Educational Technology Coordinator to construct projects that incorporate both computer skills and the core curriculum.

Technology in the Lower School emphasizes the creation of art, writing and publishing, and experimentation with a variety of virtual manipulatives and tools.

The software tools used with Lower School students include: Kid Pix; Kidspiration; Terrapin Logo; iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, etc.); iWork (Keynote & Pages); Internet websites; Microsoft Office; Digital photos, media, etc.
