Support MCDS

From the school's founding Marin Country Day School has relied on the generosity of our extended community to support teaching and learning by volunteering their time and talents and also offering financial support to the school. We are grateful that this "can-do" spirit lives on at MCDS.

The Development Office is committed to providing meaningful opportunities for the entire MCDS community to support the school. We invite you to learn more by following the links on this page. Please feel free to contact us any time with your questions, suggestions or comments.

Ways of Giving to MCDS

The Gift of Financial Support

Your gifts are crucial to the ongoing academic and financial health of the school, and assure that MCDS will continue to celebrate inquiry, creativity, reflection and innovation, now and in the future.

There are three primary fundraising efforts at MCDS:

Annual Fund

Marin Country Day School’s highest giving priority, the Annual Fund provides 7% of the school’s operating budget and helps close the budget gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of educating our students. Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund each year from our loyal and generous community allow MCDS to meet the most pressing current needs of its programs, teachers and students. Solicitations begin at the start of each school year and we strive for 100% participation from current families as well as faculty and staff.

Eighth grade families are asked to contribute to a graduating class endowment fund as part of their annual gift to school.

Fundraising Events

“Make IT Happen” fundraising events support Indexed Tuition, and include the fall Tour of Marin ride and the spring Community Dinner Dance and Auction and student Walkathon. We solicit sponsors and auction donors for these festive events.

We invite you to participate as you are able in the additional Parent Board fundraising events each year. A highlight is the fall Book Fair (a beloved tradition that celebrates the love of reading and supports the MCDS library) and our Home Sweet Home gingerbread house event. From time to time, students plan small fundraisers to support local and global causes.

Capital Campaigns

Periodic capital campaigns provide additional funds for campus improvements, curricular initiatives and the school’s endowment. We invite all members of the extended MCDS community to participate in major campaigns.

The Gift of Time and Talents

Volunteering enriches our program and strengthens connections in the school community. MCDS offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and expects that all parents will pitch in as they are able. We are very grateful for the alumni, alumni parents and grandparents who donate their time as well.

We truly appreciate your support of Marin Country Day School!
