The MCDS art department fosters the valuing of art as a means of personal creative expression providing a nurturing environment where imagination, self-discovery, exploration, problem solving and positive self-esteem flourish.

Essential to students' art study is the building of a visual language that empowers the them to gain confidence in their ability to understand and speak about their own artwork and the work of others. While being introduced to a variety of mediums, skills, and techniques students are exposed to art history and traditional art forms of cultures around the world.

MCDS students emerge with a developed perception of the natural and man made world, and a heightened awareness of the living art around them.
