Why MCDS?

What our families have to say...

"The only thing he doesn't like is when he has to leave at the end of the year."

As we toured, it felt like home. We imagined our son running across campus, enjoying indoor/outdoor education and engaging in hands on, project-based learning. We envisioned him developing the character to recognize that diversity and inclusion are essential for academic excellence and responsible world citizenship.

"We love that MCDS is preparing our kids for their future."

We appreciate the high academic standards, teaching of good citizenry in both the digital world and in the 'real' world. We also love that this is all combined with teaching the kids to celebrate diversity and to be humble and respectful. MCDS is truly their second home.

"The MCDS teachers are extraordinary."

These talented and committed educators nurture curiosity, guide social-emotional learning, and create community every day. As a gay family, it's really important to us that a key part of the curriculum is a focus on identity work, which is expertly taught in all grades in developmentally appropriate ways.

"We wanted a school that would be challenging but still fun."

MCDS’s strong academic curriculum combined with art, music, drama, foreign language and fun electives, fit the bill. We also appreciated the school’s efforts to encourage self-advocacy by expecting the students to seek out their teachers for extra help.

"Our entire family has felt welcomed since our admission tour."

The teachers are compassionate and sensitive to any circumstance, and the entire MCDS community is loving and nurturing. Support is there for each family- regardless of color, race or economic status. We are very proud to be representing our Latino community at MCDS.

"Nowhere else did we sense so much joy in learning."

For our children, we sought a school with strong values, a time-tested academic tradition, inspired teachers and a natural environment that balanced our urban home life. MCDS was the right match.
