After School Programs

Explore More is an after-school enrichment program for K-4th graders. Explore More is designed for students to do an in-depth study of a particular area of interest. Our innovative and diverse programming allows our students to choose courses that ignite their love of learning. Classes range from robotics, martial arts, soccer, coding, arts and crafts, and cooking.

FORTE is an after-school music program for students in grades K-8.

Private and group instruction is available for, but not limited to, guitar, piano, violin/viola, drum set, voice, and ukulele. Group classes offered include Rock Band and Songwriting.

PM (Play More) our extended care program for K-4th graders. PM (Play More), our after-school extended care program, provides a safe, caring, engaging and playful environment for students. PM is open after school hours Monday through Friday until 6:00pm.

Activities include indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, building and design-related projects, free play and informal sports activities. PM also provides time for homework, relaxation and exploration. Afternoon snacks are included.

Homework Café is a supervised space for Upper School students (grades 5-8) in the Learning Resource Center. Homework Café is open after school hours Monday-Friday until 6:00 pm.

Students work on homework and other school projects while also having the opportunity to engage with their peers in a safe, open environment. In addition, students can attend school sports games, play outside, or participate in special enrichment classes/projects. Students are provided nutritious afternoon snacks as well.

Homework Café is offered at no charge to MCDS families.

MCDS is proud of its longstanding partnership with SFJAZZ. The SFJAZZ Band Class brings world-class jazz artists out of the concert hall and into the MCDS community, by offering band classes and accompanying students at their performances. The band class offers hands-on learning with jazz professionals who give students access to jazz’s rich and critical history. The class is open to all 5th through 8th graders.
