From its inception, MCDS has nurtured a community of committed, energetic, diverse and generous parents/guardians and encouraged a culture of active involvement in the life of the school. This tradition includes volunteer participation of all kinds.
The Family Association encourages parents to find roles that reflect their individual interests, talents, and schedules.
The roles parents choose to engage in range from leadership roles, to one-time volunteer activities or roles with predictable schedules, such as helping in the classroom or the library. Every volunteer contribution is deeply appreciated and there is truly a volunteer role for everyone.
Role of the Family Association
The role of the Family Association is key in helping to nurture and support a healthy and vibrant school community.
The Family Association leadership is made up of over 50 dedicated parent volunteers who oversee more than 20 different committees that are active across many aspects of school life.
The mission of the Family Association is:
- To develop a sense of community within the parent/guardian body
- To deepen parents' and guardians’ connection to the school
- To coordinate volunteers and promote school life
- To facilitate communication among the parent/guardian body, administration, and the Board of Trustees
The Family Association holds three meetings each year and the entire parent/guardian body is encouraged to attend. These meetings provide valuable information about school life.
