The K-5 Walkathon is ready to roll, 5/19!
The 37th Annual Walkathon will take place Friday, May 19 from 9:00-10:00 am on the Lower Field.
K-5 students will raise money for indexed tuition by strutting their stuff (running, jogging, walking – each loop completed is money raised) on the MCDS Lower Field. A live DJ, refreshing treats and enthusiastic participants and supporters make this one of the best community events of the year.
Information packets, including instructions for entering pledges online, were sent home with your student Friday, May 5. Pledges are due Friday, May 12.

What Is It?
The Walkathon is a time-honored annual tradition (and a lot of fun!) for our K-5th graders that raises money for indexed tuition. We’ve missed the Walkathon the last two years, so let's celebrate its return to campus!
All kindergartners through 5th graders will walk, skip, jog or run for one hour, completing as many laps as possible. Students have been known to run as many as 25-40 laps!

The MCDS Lower Field on Friday, May 19 from 9:00-10:00 am.
Why Do We Do It?
All pledge money raised will support indexed tuition. Each participant needs at least one pledge. If this presents a problem for your family, Walkathon angel sponsors are available through your teacher. All sponsors must be people. Sorry, no dogs, cats, ferrets, or any other pets. MCDS students may not pledge for each other, although they may pledge for themselves.
How Do I Enter Pledges?
This year, there are no paper forms for pledging. To register your child for the Walkathon, please head to mcds.org/walkathon and click "Not registered for this event?" From there, you will create a login from which to manage your child's donations and pledges from within the Pledgestar system. You can continue to send and track requests and donations using the email address matching your Pledgestar login.
If parents/guardians need to enter donations on behalf of others, they may also do so via the Pledgestar portal. Instructions for students are also included in the pledge information packets being sent home with your child. Pledges are due Friday, May 13.
Please Note: With the aim of keeping MCDS green, we are asking parents to send a reusable water bottle with their child for the Walkathon. Please label the water bottle with your child's name as well as their teacher’s last name. Send the water bottles to school with your child any time before the Walkathon to be stored in your child's classroom. Paper cups will not be available at the event. It is also a good idea to pack a change of clothes so your walker/runner can change into dry clothes after the event.
