Please alert the MCDS Development Office of an upcoming stock transfer. Your name will not accompany your stock donation.

In order to acknowledge your gift and issue a proper tax receipt, we will need the following information: donor name/contact information, name of stock, and number of shares being transferred.

To make the transfer:

The date of your gift for tax purposes is the date shares hit the MCDS account. The gift value will be the average share price on that date.

* A donor with his or her own Schwab account also needs to provide Schwab with written instructions to journal the shares to the MCDS account.

A QCD is a tax-efficient way to donate from your IRA while also counting towards your annual Required Minimum Distribution. Minimum age requirements apply; please check with your financial advisor.

What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?

When individuals take distributions from their IRAs, they usually count as income for tax purposes. QDCs, also called IRA Charitable Rollovers, are an exception. Individuals aged 70_^1/2 or older can distribute up to $111,000 each year* from their IRAs to a not-for-profit organization without the distribution counting as income.
