With their families looking on, the Class of 2021 stepped up (and out) on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
In order to observe county health mandates in place at the time, attendance was limited to the graduates’ immediate family members and the ceremony was moved from the Step-Up area to the Upper Field where a T-shaped stage was erected. Graduates and their families were seated together at (socially distanced) tables spread out across the Upper Field grass.
While Step-Up Day 2021 may have looked a bit different than previous ceremonies, much of the same spirit and energy were present to mark the occasion. A bagpiper played from the upper level of the Creekside Building as graduates processed onto the field and across the stage; the eighth grade speakers captured the friendships, growth, memories and challenges experienced during their years at MCDS; and those watching via livestream joined with the audience present on campus in a round of applause to celebrate our 8th grade graduates and all students stepping up to the next grade at MCDS.
Congratulations to the Class of 2021! We hope they'll keep in touch and share stories with us of their adventures beyond MCDS.
