On Wednesday, June 13, the MCDS community — students and families, teachers and staff — gathered to mark another Step-Up Day.
Step-Up Day is always a special occasion filled with joy and song. It’s our community's unique way of celebrating the accomplishments of another school year. The sight of students proudly "stepping up" never fails to bring forth many smiles and even a few tears.
In her remarks to the eighth grade graduates, Head of School Lucinda Lee Katz encouraged them to cherish the friendships they made at MCDS and to come back and visit often. This Step-Up ceremony marked the final time that Lucinda would address MCDS graduates -- at the end of June she “stepped up” and into retirement after 14 years as head of school.
Best wishes to the 83 graduates from the class of 2018 as they take the first exciting steps on their journey to high school and beyond! We hope they'll remember MCDS wherever they go.
